最終，莉亞湯瑪斯(Lia Thomas)憑著男兒身軀，奪美國NCAA女子游泳賽事冠軍，惹起爭議。

世界田徑聯會 (世界田聯)主席Sebastian Coe：「性別無法勝過生物學」、「事實上，女子運動的未來，非常脆弱。」(actually the future of women’s sport, is very fragile.)

著名變性人、奧運金牌得主凱特琳‧詹納(Caitlyn Jenner)：「勝之不武！」、「我們要保護女子運動… 」

佛羅里達州州長羅恩·德桑蒂斯(Ron DeSantis)：「NCAA正在摧毀女子運動員、損害比賽的完整性。」

特琳‧詹納和羅恩·德桑蒂斯都只承認第二名的艾瑪‧韋揚特為該項比賽的真正冠軍。
